Gareth John Bale

 
Gareth is from Ynysmeudwy in the Swansea valley. He trained as an actor at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating in 2002. His first directing job was with Cwmni Theatr 3-D Theatre Company, whom he has worked with since their formation in 2004. He helped form the artistic program of the company working on new and established plays in English and Welsh, and directed ENDORFFIN, EPA YN Y PARLWR CEFN (Sion Eirian), ABIGAIL'S PARTY (Mike Leigh), DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER (Marc Camoletti), the ZUFALL and ANGEL FESTIVALS (Various), and RICHARD PARKER (Owen Thomas). RICHARD PARKER (in which Gareth also performed) toured the UK and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2011 and the Hollywood Fringe, winning Best International Show in 2012.

He has worked extensively with BlackRAT Productions Theatre Company, as an assistant director and actor. He was assistant director to Richard Tunley on UP 'N UNDER (John Godber), ROMEO AND JULIET (William Shakespeare), NEVILLE'S ISLAND (Tim Firth), BOEING BOEING (Marc Camoletti), BEDROOM FARCE (Alan Ayckborne) and THE 39 STEPS (Patrick Barlow), gaining plenty of experience - especially in comedy - along the way. Gareth has a good understanding of pantomime having directed two Welsh language pantomimes - PWS MEWN BWTS and DACW MAM YN DWAD (Martyn Geraint) and was Assistant Director on Rhondda Cynon Taff's JACK AND THE BEANSTALK and CINDERELLA (Richard Tunley).

He has worked as a director / guest lecturer in Trinity Saint David and Coleg Sir Gar. He directed ELECTRA (Sophocles) for Gower College in 2015 and UNDER MILK WOOD (Dylan Thomas) for the BlackRAT Productions' Summer School in 2010.
He recently directed AN EVENING WITH GARETH BALE - a Welsh football inspired comedy for voices for Men of Harlech Theatre Company. He will be directing a Welsh language adaptation of Jim Cartwright's TWO in June.
